Our Approach to Teaching

At Spanish at 6, we are dedicated to providing high-quality after school Spanish classes for K-3 students.

Our experienced PS6 school teachers ensure a fun and engaging learning environment where students can develop their language skills effectively. Join us in the journey of discovering the beauty of the Spanish language.  The program will be for beginners, intermediate, and/or native language speakers!

Spring Classes Held on Thursday Afternoons at PS6 taught by PS6 Teachers!  

At the start of the semester, our dedicated teachers will warmly connect with each student to ensure they are placed in the class that best supports their learning journey. We offer two engaging options: one for students new to Spanish and another for those with more experience speaking Spanish.​

Spanish Starters - Taught by PS6 Teachers

The Beginner Spanish Class, designed especially for young learners in elementary school! This dynamic, hands-on program introduces children to the beauty of the Spanish language through interactive activities, songs, games, and colorful storytelling. Each lesson is carefully crafted to keep students excited and eager to learn, all while building their confidence in speaking Spanish.

In our class, children will:

• Learn basic vocabulary related to everyday activities, colors, animals, food, and more through fun games and visual aids.

​​

• Sing lively songs that help reinforce new words and phrases, making language learning enjoyable and memorable.

​​

• Practice speaking and listening in a safe and supportive environment where mistakes are encouraged as part of the learning process.

​​

• Explore Latin culture through stories, traditional music, and activities that give children a sense of connection to the Spanish-speaking world.

​​

• Engage in creative projects, like crafting and role-playing, to practice using Spanish in real-life scenarios.

​​

Our goal is to make learning Spanish a delightful and immersive experience for every child, helping them develop foundational language skills and a love for the Spanish language and culture!

Get ready for an exciting, action-packed Spanish adventure! Our Intermediate level Spanish After-School Class is designed for students who already have some experience with Spanish or are native speakers. This class will take their language skills to the next level while celebrating the vibrant cultures of the Spanish-speaking world.

​

Taught by your very own PS6 teachers, this class offers:

​

• Fun, interactive challenges that strengthen grammar, vocabulary, and conversation skills through team games, debates, and role-playing activities.

​

• Creative projects where students will create their own stories, skits, and even songs, using Spanish in real-world contexts.

​

• Cultural explorations that dive into Latin music, art, dance, and traditions. Students will engage in exciting hands-on activities like crafting, and learning dances from Spanish-speaking countries.

​

• Real-world conversations with peers and teachers, encouraging students to practice speaking Spanish confidently in a fun, low-pressure setting.

​

• Special focus on storytelling and writing—students will sharpen their writing skills while exploring creative writing, poetry, and fun Spanish literature.​

​

In this class, students will push their Spanish to new heights, while having tons of fun and making lasting memories with their classmates. It’s an opportunity to practice language skills, explore new cultures, and expand their creativity—all while being taught by the passionate PS6 team!
